- Many people achieve that through meditation. But meditation can be very challenging. Often our mind is even more active, when we sit down, close our eyes and have nothing to do.
- With breathwork we give our thinking mind a task to do. And every psychological state has a corresponding breathing pattern. So we breathe differently when we are angry, then when we are at peace.
- But changing our state of mind when we are angry is not really easy. What is easier to do is changing our breathing pattern. So just focus on the instruction in the breathwork session in Medellin and a change will happen to you automatically.
How is the session structured?- breathwork Medellin
We have an introduction round, after that I will share some insights on breathing in general.
The breathing technique will be introduced. We start the breathing for 30 mins which is sufficient for everybody to have an experience throughout the breathwork.
There will be colored pencils to draw out your experience or you can journal on it for 10 mins after the experience. Whatever you feel.
After we will have a sharing circle where we talk about our experience
What type of breathwork will be practiced?
- So in our breathwork sessions in Medellin we practice holotropic breathing. It is an intense workout because you are breathing very actively and inhaling more oxygen than exhaling. Through this way your brain activity is changing. The prefrontal cortex, the thinking brain, is starting to shut down whereas the Amygdala – where deep memories and emotions are stored- is activated.
- Through this mechanism you are opening the door between your conscious and subconscious mind. So much of our life is influenced by our subconscious, yet we generally don’t really know what is going on there. Gaining insights can be very powerful for our own journey, so we know what we really need to work on to improve the quality of our life.

How should I prepare for the session?
✋For the holotropic breathwork practice in Medellin there are some preparations that are necessary:
- Don’t eat food 2 – 3 hours before the session (if it is not possible only light food)
- Also to safely perform holotropic breathwork it is important that you don’t have issues with your
- cardiovascular system
- endocrine emphatic nervous and respiratory system
- schizophrenic or other psychiatric conditions
What are the effects of the breathwork session:
🎇The experience can be subtle but can also have a very strong effect on your body, mind, emotions and being.
So be open for whatever comes up. You can also have an intention, something that you want to look into during the session.
Usually people experience that their racing mind stops and there is a tranquility and inner balance resulting through it.
Also at times people are laughing, crying or shaking. Basically this is a sign for an emotional release which is happening.
